Rarely does a luxury car go through such a dramatic transformation as the Jaguar XJ did in 2011. The previous generation XJ hid its modern mechanics beneath a traditional design that recalled the classic XJ6 of the 1960s. While this seemed like a good idea at the time, sales were dismal. In 2011 Jaguar put convention to the side and gave its iconic sedan a radical, strikingly modern design both inside and out. A luxury sedan that once only appealed to those with fond memories of string back leather gloves is not a fully competitive flagship for the Jaguar brand.

For the 2012 Jaguar XJ there were some additional feature sets added to the vehicle. The XJ Supersport gets a rear-seat entertainment system standard, but now adaptive cruise control becomes an option. The XJL Supersport now includes a reclining rear seat that includes a massaging feature (yes, please!).
The base model comes in at about 4,000 lbs, thanks to extensive use of aluminum in body panels, which allows the 2012 Jaguar XJ to have nimble handling on the road and maximum effect from the 5.0 liter V8. Even the base model provides 385 horsepower, while the Supercharged and Supersport models blast out 470 and 510 horses, respectively.
